AILT9009 Important Message

Dear Students,

Please read this message carefully before selecting AILT9009.

Students in the Faculty of Arts are required to take AILT9009 in either semester 1 or 2. AILT9009 includes 6 mandatory lectures and 3 mandatory tutorials in both semesters. There are 6 tutorial groups in a semester. Each group must attend 3 tutorial sessions, with approximately 40 students in each group. Each tutorial group has its own fixed schedule, and each student may sign up for only one tutorial group.

As the SIS system does not support selecting tutorial groups before selecting semesters for AILT9009, and as the tutorial selection system will not open until September 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., please follow the steps below when making your decisions:

  1. Visit the AILT9009 website and check the timetable for each tutorial group in each semester: https://atlab.hku.hk/ailt9009/ailt9009-tutorial-timetable.html.
  2. Find the tutorial group that best fits your schedule.
  3. Identify which semester the selected tutorial group belongs to.
  4. Select the identified semester lecture in SIS first. Please note that selecting the semester lecture does not officially reserve a place in any tutorial group.
  5. When the tutorial selection system opens on September 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., sign up for your selected tutorial group as soon as possible by following the Tutorial Sign-Up Guide: https://its.hku.hk/kb/tutorial-sign-up-application/.
  6. Double-check your selection and confirm that you can attend all 3 tutorial sessions.

Special Note:

  1. For anyone joining Group 6 in Semester 1 or Semester 2, because the times of your 3 tutorial sessions are irregular, please make sure to remember the correct times.
  2. Semester 2 tutorial enrollment will open on January 18, 2027, at 4:00 p.m. and close on February 4, 2027, at 4:00 p.m. For those who will take this course in Semester 2, please do not worry.

Troubleshooting:

  1. If you cannot select a tutorial group before September 1, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., you are not doing anything wrong. This is a limitation of the system.
  2. If your preferred tutorial group is full after the Tutorial Sign-Up system opens, please choose another available tutorial group in the same semester as soon as possible. Alternatively, you may drop your current semester selection, choose another semester, and join an available tutorial group there.
  3. If you believe that none of the tutorial groups work with your current schedule, please try to adjust your schedule first. If this is not possible, you may email the course coordinator to ask whether assistance can be provided on a case-by-case basis. Accommodation is not guaranteed.
